Dale Dolese

Bass, Vocals
Dale was born in New Orleans and raised on Brothel Jazz, Swamp Funk and New Orleans 9th Ward R&B from an early age. Taking up the bass and the baritone jaw harp in his early adolescence, Dale began his musical journey playing in rock, punk and metal bands around New Orleans. (Unfortunately Spandex may even have been a part of that journey.) He attended college in Lafayette, La. where he began to tap into a variety of musical styles, developing his gregarious vocal and songwriting skills while fronting the bands Cats and Bones and One Hand Clapping. Dale moved to Denver in the late '90s, founding the original Funk/Jazz group Gris-Gris. The gritty, swampified outfit recorded 3 CDs, filmed a video for HDTV, played festivals and opened for national acts. Dale’s influences include: George Porter Jr., John Paul Jones, Charles Mingus, Geezer Butler and Geddy Lee. In 2004 Dale answered an unrelenting call to return to New Orleans and his roots where Sticky Wig happened — A Brotherhood of Funky Tom Foolery with a delicious Marshmallow center. Dale resides in the equally sticky Faubourg Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans with his wife Renee, a tiny drooling man named Mister Boo and three marginally useful feline beasts.
